Dr Jannie Arndt

As a general orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Jannie Arndt specializes in all musculoskeletal injuries and pathology, both surgically and non-surgically. The musculoskeletal system includes bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves.
After completion of his MBChB degree (UFS) in 2005 cum laude, Dr Arndt acquired his M.Med Orthopaedic Surgery (UFS) and FC Orthopaedic Surgery in 2016.
Dr Arndt was selected as one of two Smith and Nephew travelling fellows in his final year as Orthopaedic registrar (2016). This programme is a mini-fellowship where registrars visit other teaching institutions in the country.
Following the completion of his post-graduate studies, he further completed a six-month fellowship in upper limb surgery with a renowned hand and upper limb surgeon.
His private practice was established in January 2017. Valuing efficiency, competence and a passion for patient care, Dr Arndt was motivated to start a private practice as it would allow him to help patients in the most effective manner whilst using all resources available to him.

In addition to being in full-time private practice, Dr Arndt is a part-time lecturer affiliated with the University of Stellenbosch. He is involved in the training of selected final year medical students in Upington. His role includes lecturing and guiding these students with regard to all general orthopaedic training.
He is also involved with STEPS Clubfoot care, where he regularly does pro-bono work for infants in the area who suffer from clubfoot deformities.
Combining a passion for helping people as well as having had a keen interest in the functioning of the human body, medical study was a natural choice for him.
He is most passionate about the functioning of the musculoskeletal system and the surgical intervention of musculoskeletal pathology and trauma.
